First of all, thanks to all of you reading the blog! I can tell from the numbers that there are quite a few of you out there reading, so please leave me a comment letting me know what you think, or if you have a question or suggestion. I’ve got some exciting things coming up as well as a few updates:
- Training is going so well. I really love running with Team in Training: the community and the support is invaluable. Saturdays are the long run days, we do speed work on Wednesday nights, and I run Mondays on my own. I usually do a little cardio on Thursdays, too, along with riding my bike every once in a while. Fundraising remains a tough part of this endeavor, so please head here to donate or leave me a comment with a fundraiser suggestion!
- Strength training remains an integral part of my healthy lifestyle. I thrive on the variety and enjoy the challenge of getting stronger and seeing more muscles form. Starting tomorrow, I will be attempting Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred. Some of you may know her as the female trainer on The Biggest Loser, but she is all over the place in the health/fitness world, and I really enjoy hearing what she has to say. I have been listening to her podcasts (available here) and am eager to try the 30 Day Shred, a short circuit-style strength workout that is supposed to be quite intense. I will report back tomorrow! I took my measurements the other day, so I’m really excited to work hard and look for measurable changes.
- Still love yoga! It’s an ongoing challenge for me to incorporate it into my exercise regimen as often as I’d like to, but I think it’s important to increase my flexibility and my strength with all the running I will be doing. I will be attending a few real, live yoga classes in the next couple weeks, so I’m really excited about that.
- I will be interviewing two very cool people that will be featured in the blog hopefully within the week. Stay tuned to see who they are!
- Also coming up (hopefully soon, but I’m not exactly sure when) is a giveaway! That’s right, my first giveaway, and it’s a wonderful product that I use all the time and I know a lot of others do, too. Any guesses as to what it is??
- In about a week I will be starting a new job (it’s nutrition-related and pretty darn cool!) so I’ll be featuring more easy and quick meals/snacks that can be packed for a lunch at work or school. I’m determined to be creative and not pack an almond butter sandwich every day (which I probably wouldn’t be too upset about, actually!). This blog will keep me accountable as I form an arsenal of healthy, balanced, and tasty lunches that are great on-the-go.
Whew! As you can see, I’ve got a lot coming up, and I’m pretty excited. Keep checking back!
